The Cybersecurity Analyst Intern role provides hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment where you will learn how to identify, analyze, and respond to real-world cyber threats.  You will gain exposure to industry-leading security detection and monitoring tools, working alongside experienced analysts who are dedicated to protecting critical systems and data.  This internship offers the opportunity to develop practical skills, contribute to active operations, and build a foundation for a future career in cybersecurity.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

In this role, you will collaborate with seasoned professionals in security incident response, engineering and architecture.  You will complete daily analysis tasks and provide input on ways to tune and improve cybersecurity event detection.

  • Monitor, investigate, and respond to security alerts using next-generation detection and monitoring platforms, such as Security Information Event Management (SIEM) and Endpoint Detection & Response (EDR) tools.
  • Assist in identifying root causes and recommending remediation steps.
  • Identify needed monitoring mitigations as a result of vulnerability assessments.
  • Contribute to playbooks and documentation, reporting, and process improvement efforts.
  • Utilize threat intelligence platforms to enrich analysis and determine risk.
  • Stay current on emerging threats, exploits, and cybersecurity trends to help strengthen our defenses.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Pursuing degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field.
  •  Strong interest in cybersecurity operations and threat detection.
  •  Familiarity with networking concepts (such as TCP/IP, Web, VPNs, Firewalls) and operating systems (Windows, Linux).
  •  Sharp analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  •  Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-moving team environment.
  •  Experience working in Information Technology (such as software/hardware support) is a plus.
  •  Scripting or programming language (e.g. PowerShell, Python) is a plus.
