Job Description
This role is responsible for assisting in ensuring the security and safety of all members, staff, and assets. Specialists are responsible for supporting the daily operations related to physical security including security equipment and access control. This position also supports the credit union's emergency preparedness, employee robbery, and physical environment security / safety procedures and training. It is important to note, this position does not grant police officer authority, including arrest or detention powers beyond those held by any other citizen of the United States.
Essential Functions
- Monitoring, responding to, and evaluating security measures to protect against reasonably anticipated threats or hazards to the privacy, security, and/or integrity of member-sensitive information. Actions are performed via Camera monitoring, Foot patrolling, or via overwatch functions.
- Planning for security operations and activities throughout the organization.
- Incident management.
- Executive protection.
- Threat assessments/mitigation, support, and awareness programs.
- Conduct physical security assessments for each branch, and or organizational-owned or leased property and buildings.
- Assist in the development of standard operating procedures for designs, configuration, and implementation of physical security systems for both people and asset/location protection.
- Investigate and respond to suspected crimes on Wings CU premises, and take appropriate follow-up action which can include:
- Immediately report to Management or Facilities any conditions or circumstances that are potentially unsafe or hazardous using appropriate communication channels.
- File reports pertaining to criminal activity and act as liaison to law enforcement.
- Completes activity reports, completes paperwork, and documents incidents.
- Assist the Physical Security Manager with developing, updating, and implementing security and emergency response plans.
- Assist with facility-related tasks including:
- Visitor / Contractor Badging and Temporary / Lost Badge Processing.
- Escorting guests/members when appropriate.
- Building access and general guidance in navigating the Wings CU properties including service centers.
- Assist with contractor scheduling and installation oversight of video system and access control equipment in the facilities, branches, buildings, and locations.
- Work closely with the IT Department to ensure all IT systems, policies and procedures fully comply with relevant regulatory security laws, rules, and regulations
- Bank Secrecy Act: Remains cognizant of and adheres to Ent policies and procedures, and regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act.
Qualifications
- Associate's Degree in Law Enforcement / Criminal Justice, Physical Security or other related field.
- 5+ years' of experience relevant to safety or security operations / site evaluations.
- 1+ year's' experience working in or having security responsibility for financial institutions preferred.
- Prior workplace security experience.
- Possesses a strong working knowledge of security principles, policies, tools, and procedures.
- Demonstrates a strong breadth of knowledge in corporate security and public safety.
- Follows standard procedures to follow up on security incidents, collecting and reporting appropriate information.
- Demonstrates a good understanding of the financial services industry and employee / member security and safety requirements.
- Possesses a good understanding of corporate security systems and controls; some experience / knowledge in integrated physical-information technology security control systems is also helpful.
- Strong communication skills (written, verbal, and listening).
- Demonstrates a clear understanding of the use of deadly force as defined by the Revised Statutes of their location jurisdictions.
