About Houston

 

ExxonMobil's state-of-the-art campus north of Houston serves as home to its Upstream, Product Solutions and Low Carbon Solutions businesses and their associated service groups. The facility opened in 2014 and accommodates more than 10,000 employees and visitors.

What role you will play in our team

 

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Tax Attorney Trading ready to take on complex challenges with a Fortune 50 multinational corporation. ou will gain a wide variety of experience, work on dynamic projects and develop value-added tax strategies in partnership with our new Global Trading organization. Business line managers will lean on you for advice regarding fast-paced business transactions, tax policy trends and tax savings opportunities. Initial assignment will be with the Global Trading organization working closely with them and global tax network to optimize trading scenarios.  

 

This position will play a key role in helping our corporation compete to win by successfully navigating both domestic and international tax issues. We do rotate our tax attorneys to support different parts of the global business over the course of their career, and you will be given many opportunities to enhance your skills, gain new skills and collaborate with the best and brightest colleagues. What you will do

 

• Develop and implement tax planning strategies that align with business objectives through collaboration with key stakeholders in the Global Trading business
• Stay updated on tax laws, policies, regulations and industry trends
• Analyze business operations, transactions and investments and identify potential tax issues, opportunities and risk management strategies 
• Advise on international and cross-border tax issues related to commodity trading, including derivative products 
• Analyze complex tax issues and recommend practical and strategic solutions 

About you

 

Skills and Qualifications

 

• J.D. 
• At least 5 years tax legal experience
• Experience with cross-border commodity trading involving derivatives 

 

Preferred Qualifications/ Experience

 

 

• Tax LLM preferred
• Technical tax knowledge
• Creative solution to enable business objectives
• Demonstrated negotiation skills
• Strong project management skills
• Adds value by collaborating effectively with business and other support functions
