WSP is currently initiating a search for an Assistant Consultant, Structural Engineer to work out of our Denver, CO office.
Be involved in projects with our Structural Buildings Team in the Federal Programs Group and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.
Our Federal Programs Group comprises of highly motivated engineers, architects and interior designers with a variety of technical backgrounds working in several key locations across the US and internationally. Major clients are U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Postal Service, and U.S. National Park Service. Your Impact
- Under general supervision, perform structural analysis, design, and assessment of building structures.
- Under general supervision, prepare basis of designs, detailed design calculations, technical reports, and assessment reports. assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from the physical work site, surveys, blueprints, GIS data, subsurface utility information, maps, geotechnical data, and other matrices for project development, design, and construction.
- Assist with the development of plans and specifications in accordance with client requirements.
- Assist in the preparation of drawings in Revit.
- Attend client meetings and perform site visits.
- Assist with inspection and design which requires work both in field and office settings.
- Complete training on assigned tasks.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering, or closely related discipline.
- 0 to 1 years of relevant post education experience.
- Engineer in Training Certification.
- Due to client requirements, ability to obtain a US Government issued Secret level Security Clearance, is required.
- Excellent research skills with analytical mindset.
- Familiarity with process and concepts for design/build.
- Familiarity with relevant structural and civil construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
- Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
- Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
- Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
- Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
- Familiarity with discipline-specific design software, which may include (i.e., Risa3D, ETABS, SAP2000, SAFE, STAAD, MathCAD, TEDDS, EnerCalc, Revit).
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
- Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
- Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering.
- Prior internship related to the degree of study and the specific engineering discipline.
- Prior experience with Federal clients (DoD, NAVFAC, USACE, etc.)
- A member of and/or actively participate in local professional practice organizations.
- Active US Government issued Secret level Security Clearance.
