The Purpose of Your Role
The senior manager of Trade Operations is responsible for managing day to day operations of the trade services team based in Dublin managing our externally managed trades in markets across the EMEA region. Reporting locally to the director of trade operations, the senior manager of trade operations will partner closely with their colleagues and peers in both the Hong Kong and US teams to ensure that all trades executed are getting captured and transmitted correctly and cross site initiatives and activities are managed accordingly.
The senior manager will be responsible for monitoring and tracking the performance of the team members in their group, through regular check-ins, performance meetings and development meetings
With the ever changing regulatory and operational environment as well as the complexity of some of the markets and structures that we operate in a strong understanding of operational risk is essential. The senior manager will need to ensure that market and operational risks are anticipated and controlled as well as partner with teams to ensure that any changes or updates to controls are made and communicated accordingly. Passing this knowledge on and helping more junior staff develop and grow will be a critical success factor in this role.
As a key member of the group leadership team the senior manager will play a significant role in the documentation of the performance of our suppliers and clients such as the custodian banks, as well as systems and service providers- both internal and external. Communication and relationship building are key parts of this role.
Working in an agile framework the senior manager will help to identify, allocate and support project work across the team that aligns to our departments strategic goals and objectives as well as helping to prepare us for any market or regulatory changes that will impact our operations. Full training on agile will be provided.
The Expertise we’re looking for
- 7+ years of trade operations experience – Extensive knowledge of multiple asset classes an advantage.
- 3+ years minimum direct people and team management experience (applicants without this experience will not be considered).
- Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate up and across the organization.
- Experience in the design and implementation of new operational processes in a system and market context.
- Demonstrable experience in the area operational risk and control management, particularly in a settlement context.
- Understanding of capacity management.
- Experience working in an agile environment.
- Strong data analytics skills to identify risks and opportunities for improvement or refinement.
- Proven ability to build relationships both internally and externally fast as well as the ability to grow these further.
- Understanding of Agile/Lean/Six Sigma methodologies

About the role
- This team plays a critical part in ensuring the capture and transmission of thousands of trades out to the markets and into accounting each day.
- It is the teams responsibility to ensure that all trades transmitted are captured, transmitted and validated on time daily. Any items that are preventing this from happening must be identified promptly and resolved accordingly with full analysis complete.
- As the team identify changes to the operating environment it is of pivotal importance that these are communicated out to the wider Fidelity group so that lessons can be learnt and experiences shared.
- Accuracy, completeness and timeliness are critical measures for the team. Operating to strict quality limits, the successful candidate will be heavily involved in maintaining quality and ensuring work efficiency and best practices are followed.
