This job handles the day-to-day duties that support the medical library staff including patron assistance, facility and equipment maintenance, and availability of resources. Handles special projects as requested by medical library leadership.Education
Required - High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred - Bachelor's degree.
Work Experience
Required - 3 years of business office or library experience at an administrative level.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
- Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
Ability to compose letters, memos, and other communications.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with professional staff, leadership, and physicians.
Ability to work with little supervision and exercise good judgment when handling difficult situations.
Ability to travel throughout and between facilities and work a flexible work schedule.
Job Duties
Supports medical library staff operations with tracking resource utilization, ordering supplies, processing invoices, keeping records of department expenditures, coordinating patron after-hours access, assisting patrons at InfoDesk, scheduling outreach and in-service meetings, and serving as timekeeper.
Facilitates purchase process for license agreements of new and renewal Medical Library resources (platforms, databases, books, and journals).
Maintains client representative, technical support, and contract information on all Medical Library vendors.
Provides support with processing of interlibrary loan/document delivery (ILLiad) borrowing and lending requests.
Performs monthly ILLiad billing and semi-annual copyright clearance payment.
Oversees condition of the Medical Library physical facility including book stacks, study carrels, and reading areas.
Ensures public computers, copiers, and scanners are operating properly.
Coordinates with appropriate departments to correct lighting, plumbing, cleaning, and security system issues.
Opens and closes Medical Library as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned.
