Trails Crew Skilled Tradesman will be responsible for performing trail maintenance, construction, re-routes, and re-builds for all Arkansas State Parks trail uses ranging from hiking, mountain biking, equestrian to multi-use. Typical trail maintenance includes corridor maintenance and clearing, installing signage, tread repairs, chainsaw work and other duties as needed to keep trails accessible and safe for Park visitors and staff. Skilled technical knowledge in carpentry, rock work, construction of retaining walls and wooden bridges to different methods of erosion control and equipment operation. The Skilled Tradesman will complete reports to document time and materials used. Statewide travel with overnight stay is required weekly. A valid driver’s license is required. A driver’s record check will be performed.

Applicants must meet or exceed the following qualifications: The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma; plus, completion of required education or training along with the required license or certification in one or more of the following skilled trades listed below OR the formal education equivalent of a high school diploma; plus five years of experience as a carpenter or painter. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. Other job-related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of these basic requirements, except for certification or licensure requirements, upon approval of the qualifications review committee.

Summary
The Skilled Tradesman is responsible for the work activities in one or more of the following skilled trades: HVAC mechanical (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning), plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency policy.
Functions
May install, maintain, repair and overhaul air conditioning systems, commercial and industrial refrigeration and air conditioning systems and combined heating, ventilation and cooling systems.
May assemble, install, repair, and maintain pipes, fixtures, and other plumbing equipment used for water distribution and waste water disposal in residential, commercial and industrial buildings in compliance with code regulations.<
