About the role

The Opportunity

Ulteig is seeking a highly engaged and experienced candidate for our Senior Manager – Project Management position within the Project Management department. It is preferred that this senior leader be located near our Denver, CO, St. Paul, MN, Fargo, ND, Boise, ID, or Austin, TX office; however, fully remote candidates will be considered. This role provides strategic and operational leadership for multiple teams of project managers, project controls professionals, and people leaders, with a focus on delivering high-quality project and/or construction management solutions for Renewables projects across Ulteig’s portfolio. The Senior Manager – Project Management will be responsible for developing and mentoring managers and supervisors, driving organizational   growth and scalability, and ensuring consistent execution excellence across projects. Key responsibilities include client engagement and relationship management, business development support, workforce and resource planning, financial performance oversight, and accountability for departmental goals, metrics, and continuous improvement initiatives.

This individual will report directly to the  Director of Project Management and will partner closely with clients, executive leadership, and internal stakeholders including Service Departments, Client Solutions, and Shared Services. The Senior Manager is a proactive, strategic leader who balances people development, operational performance, and PMO maturity while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and long-term success.

What we Expect From You 

  • Bachelor’s degree in project management, construction management, engineering management (or related field) from ABET accredited university
  • 12+ years of experience in projects, project management, and/or construction management
  • PMP or higher/equivalent certification preferred
  • Experience in leading, managing and developing other Project Management Professionals and leaders
  • Must be analytical, self-motivated, and possess the ability to work in high-pressure situations while maintaining a positive, enthusiastic and collaborative attitude
  • Strong analytic and information management skills
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, management, public and external agencies
  • High level of initiative and demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with clear expectations and timeliness 
  • Excellent presentation and verbal/written communications skills
  • Proficiency in project controls (scheduling and cost control) utilizing Microsoft Project Professional and/or Primavera P6
  • Proven experience in Microsoft Software Applications (Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Word, Excel, Power Point) and additional software knowledge depending on specialty 
  • Ability to travel (10%) to engage with team members, clients, and/or for team, department, or company level events
  • Must have authorization to work permanently in the US

 

What You'll Do

Management & Project Responsibilities - 60%

  • Provide strategic direction, leadership, and PMO governance for managers, supervisors, and project teams to achieve individual, team, department, and organizational performance objectives
  • Lead, mentor, and develop project management managers and supervisors, ensuring strong leadership pipelines, succession planning, and long-term talent growth
  • Establish and facilitate effective leadership forums, including manager 1:1s, leadership team meetings, and cross-functional collaboration sessions
  • Oversee and optimize workforce and resource planning across multiple teams, portfolios, and programs to ensure scalability, efficiency, and alignment with business priorities
  • Own performance management processes for direct reports, including annual and quarterly reviews, development planning, and accountability for team performance outcomes
  • Provide executive-level project and portfolio oversight, including scope management in alignment with technical contracts, change management strategies, and schedule performance across programs
  • May serve as Program Manager or Executive Sponsor for critical, high-risk, or strategically significant initiatives as needed
  • Lead and support complex, large-scale portfolios and enterprise-level programs with multiple clients, stakeholders, and delivery teams
  • Demonstrate exceptional executive communication skills, including the ability to influence senior stakeholders, synthesize complex information, and drive alignment across the organization
  • Demonstrate advanced organizational and prioritization
