Position Summary
Leads the organization in the monitoring, construction, and restoration of CPS Energy’s electric Distribution System in a 24/7/365 work environment. Provides executive leadership, strategic visioning, and direction for all of Distribution Construction and Maintenance Services field personnel. Sets the vision of Distribution Construction & Maintenance Services initiatives and ensures successful execution. Motivates a team culture that is respectful and operationalizes the company vision, mission and core values while enabling, and monitoring Safety First operations. Champions our customer needs and expectations through collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Executive leadership and accountability for electric system network construction and maintenance, including the entirety of the Underground and Overhead Distribution systems.
- Identifies and evaluates distribution system risks and develops mitigations.
- Develops, implements, and manages program(s) in coordination with other departments in EDS for the effective life cycle management of CPS Energy electrical assets and infrastructure.
- Oversight and management of professional and wage scale personnel.
- Responsible for workforce planning and management for their assigned business area and required to actively participate in the overall workforce planning and management of the Distribution Construction & Maintenance Services (DC&MS) organization.
- Responsible for the development of talent in the organization to accomplish current work in a safe, cost-effective, and customer focused manner, as well as, ensuring development of skills to meet challenges of changing technology.
- Responsible for the development of current and future leadership to ensure availability of qualified candidates for leadership opportunities.
- Ensure consistency and efficiency in the operational processes for the construction, maintenance, and restoration of the overhead and underground electric distribution infrastructure system across the entire service area, including the construction of customer connection projects on schedule. Establish, monitor, and improve productivity measures for service district performance.
- Drive safety performance for the entire Distribution Construction & Maintenance Services (DC&MS) workforce and all ancillary functions across the service area.
- Adherence to target budgets (e.g., capital, O&M, headcount) and allocation of resources across crafts to optimize customer satisfaction and system reliability.
- Responsible for monitoring and assessment of distribution system reliability and ensuring processes and personnel are effective in the identification of and response to reliability issues.
- Responsible for understanding and forming the culture of the Distribution Construction & Maintenance Services (DC&MS) area to align with CPS Energy’s mission and drive employee engagement.
- Ensure direct communication with field forces to reinforce policy and business unit priorities, improve employee engagement, and respond to issues affecting the work force, including effective Union relationship
- Effectively manage union relationship and coordination relative to the Distribution Construction & Maintenance Services skilled craft workforce.

Minimum Skills
Minimum Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of electrical Transmission and Distribution systems.Experience in power engineering and practices.Experience in leading engineering, technical, and/or skilled craft organizations that are responsible for infrastructure construction, design and planning.Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Business Administration or another applicable discipline (i.e. Management of Technology)
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) Certification
- Excellent problem solving and thought leadership skills; able to see the big picture and bring in other areas of the company as needed, but also to “dive deep” when appropriate
