Senior Backend Engineer (Java)

As a Senior Java Engineer, you will play a key role in rewriting and integrating existing processes, using Java, Apache Kafka, and Protocol Buffers (Protobuf) on a microservices architecture. Your contributions will have a high impact on critical payment flows.

The impact you'll make:

• Analyze existing legacy .NET processes and reimplement them using Java templates.   
• Use Protobuf to define event structures for data interchange across services.  
• Implement and maintain Kafka pipelines for real-time data stream processing.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement scalable, high-performance backend solutions.
• Ensure the reliability, scalability, and security of backend systems, particularly in a cloud environment (AWS).
• User Terraform templates setup for scalable environments.
• Troubleshoot and resolve integration issues, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.

Technological Stack:

• Java (8, 11+) 
• Being able to understand .NET Core (C#) code
• Protocol Buffers (Protobuf), gRPC  
• Apache Kafka  
• REST APIs, Microservices  
• AWS
• Terraform  
• Git, Jenkins, CI/CD pipelines

What you'll bring to us:

• 7+ years of software engineering experience with Java 
• Solid understanding of Protobuf and Kafka for service communication and streaming  
• Experience mapping legacy systems into modular, event-based pipelines  
• Skilled in debugging, unit-testing, and clean code practices  
• Ability to work independently and coordinate implementation tasks  
• Excellent English communication skills
