Description
The Social Work Program at Cedar Crest College invites applications for faculty members in multiple positions to teach both in our new Master of Social Work program and our CSWE-accredited undergraduate social work program. A pioneer of social work education as one of the first accredited undergraduate programs in the country. We are excited to add master’s degree as the next step in the evolution of the social work program. Generalist, clinical, and forensic social workers are encouraged to apply. The program is seeking motivated and innovative colleagues to join a collaborative, clinically focused, and student-centered faculty. Forensic social work is a desired area of specialization for the expanding MSW program.
The Social Work Program is fully committed to assembling a faculty with a global perspective, focused on creating a transformative learning environment to prepare students for social work’s grand challenges.
Assistant Professor of Social Work, Field Education Coordinator:
The program invites applicants for a full-time, renewable (non-tenure track), 12-month annual appointment, resident faculty position, with teaching to include in-person and online modalities and administrative duties to include Field Education Coordination; PhD in social work or DSW, available beginning January 1, 2026, and open until filled.
Key Responsibilities:

Teaching graduate-level and undergraduate courses in-person and online in generalist social work practice, research, and policy.

Advising and mentoring graduate and undergraduate students, including guiding student practice, field education, and research.

Ongoing evaluation and development of curriculum to align with program goals.

Knowledge, understanding, assessment, and implementation of CSWE accreditation standards, or the ability to develop such professional expertise.

Conducting and disseminating scholarly work including research, presentations, publications, professional development, scholarship, and service in accordance with the Boyer Model.

Supporting admissions processes, recruitment, and engaging in departmental and college-wide service.

Maintaining LSW or LCSW licensure credentials.
Qualifications

An earned DSW or PhD in social work, or a related doctorate degree with an MSW from a CSWE accredited program

Practice experience (minimum 2 years, fulltime, post-licensure practice) working in social work on the micro, mezzo, and macro level

A current LSW or LCSW in Pennsylvania or eligibility for licensure

Preferred experience in an academic setting and knowledge of social work curriculum and accreditation process is preferred

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, in addition to organizational, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills

Ability to foster collaborations with stakeholders and strengthen relationships with community partners
Desired Areas of Expertise:

Candidates with expertise in field education, child welfare, clinical practice, research, and policy are strongly encouraged to apply.

Candidates with expertise in forensic social work are strongly encouraged to apply; at least one opening will be filled experience in forensic social work.
