Inside the Role
Interns will gain knowledge and experience through exciting and real-life learning opportunities. Interns must work in accordance with DTNA’s core values of passion, respect, integrity and discipline. Internship positions can be located at various DTNA locations across the US. We are looking for high performing and motivated individuals in various areas within DTNA organizations. DTNA internships begin each summer in May or June.Interns in this role may have the opportunity to transition into a full-time position subject to manager evaluations and business availability.
This intern will be part of the Manufacturing & Resources Group team in Cleveland, will be supporting Pre-paint Chassis manufacturing engineer in several tasks, such as torque control, fixtures development, AutoCAD drawings of current tools, etc.

Salary placement is determined by your anticipated graduation year and ranges between $21 - $30 per hour.

What You Drive at DTNA
- Developing tooling documentation for all Safety joint tooling in PRE-PAINT CHASSIS.
- Provides a one-stop-shop for all tooling information in PRE-PAINT CHASSIS (Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, Pre Sets, joints in question, spare location, vendor contact information, etc.) that can be referenced by other and future engineers.
- Will provide the Intern with a significant amount of on-hand experience learning about torque tools and torque tool design in a production environment.
- Creating a process, developing a tracking system, and organizing all the pneumatic tools and clicker wrenches.
- Will improve our visibility over the high turnover tooling in PRE-PAINT CHASSIS. Helping us better track our wear and tear and spare tools throughout the Operational Unit
- Develop lifting device resource documentation for all bespoke lifting devices in PRE-PAINT CHASSIS
- Create AutoCAD drawings through reverse engineering of existing Specialty Equipment in PRE-PAINT CHASSIS that can be used for future purchasing needs (I.E. dollies, risers, fixtures, tables, etc.)
- Support continuous improvement functions by performing weekly interviews with production operators to identify opportunities for improvement and facilitate said improvements with assistance from OU Engineer.
Knowledge You Should Bring
- Must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s/PhD Program from an accredited college/university or have graduated within the last 12 months.
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent teamwork abilities.
- Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and principles.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies
- Proficiency in CAD systems, preferably AutoCAD and SolidWorks
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Solid organizational skills
- Creative mindset
- Interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment
