Position: Procedural Medical Assistant - Fort Collins
On-Site: 100%   Full Position Salary Range: $22.25 /hour - $23.97 /hour

This role supports abortion care through direct clinical triage, patient education, and follow-up, ensuring timely and empathetic support to those navigating abortion services.   Snapshot: You will spend much of your day on your feet and on the move. You will support the clinician in providing care through direct patient contact such as vitals, phlebotomy, and equipment sterilization, etc. You will be required to operate in a highly regulated medical and laboratory environment, keeping strict confidentiality, infection control, and medical protocols. You will lift boxes and unpack supplies. You will work with vulnerable patient populations.  

Our Ideal Candidate:

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Medical Assistant Certification preferred (CCMA, CMA, NCMA, or RMA), or must obtain Medical Assistant certification within 15 months of hire (except NM.)
  • Must complete PPRM Ultrasound training within nine months of hire
  • Must obtain and maintain BLS certification within six weeks of hire
Primary Areas of Responsibilities/Essential Functions: Under the supervision and delegation of the ordering provider, you will support the provider in a culturally competent and destigmatizing patient-centered manner in compliance with all regulations, including but not limited to PPRM’s Medical Standards & Guidelines, pharmacy, HIPAA, OSHA, and CLIA regulations.   Clinical:
  • Perform vital signs and collect patient information such as patient allergies, medication list, etc.
  • Collect patient specimens such as blood and urine for appropriate tests.
  • Perform basic point of care lab tests such as pregnancy tests, including select delegated CLIA waived tests and related controls.
  • Accurately document collected information and test results in the medical record.
  • Perform venipuncture and injections with training and competency validation.
  • Perform basic dating ultrasound following training and competency validation.
  • Dispense medications and supplies.
  • Sanitize exam rooms and medical equipment including use of autoclave and ultrasound-cleaning equipment.
  • Assist the provider in clinical procedures such as abortion, IUD placement, cervical cancer screening, etc.
  • Act as a chaperone during patient exams or procedures, as needed.
  • Escorting patients throughout the health center and upon discharge.
Outpatient Surgical Care:
  • Clean, sanitize and prepare procedure rooms for procedural care, including abortions.
  • Prepare and maintain medical equipment and surgical instruments including regular use of autoclave and ultrasound-cleaning equipment.
  • Directly assist physician with equipment in abortion procedures as needed.
  • Prepare and process specimens for physician inspection, including products of conception (POC)
  • Stock and maintain procedure rooms.
Operations: You will assist with the upkeep of the health center operations in a variety of ways to facilitate all aspects of patient care, maintaining an organized and effective worksite, and jump in to support the team.
  • Act as a mandatory reporter per state and regulatory requirements.
