Radiology Technologists use x-ray equipment to obtain images of the body interpreted by a Radiologist and are responsible for preparing patients for the exam, moving and instructing the patient into the proper position, correctly operating the equipment, and obtaining a high-quality image while minimizing radiation dose to the patient. Radiology Technologists may specialize in more specific imaging techniques such as bone densitometry, cardiovascular-interventional radiography, computer tomography, mammography, magnetic resonance imaging, and nuclear medicine. By taking on this role, you will help to create an accurate diagnosis to support the treatment
plan for each patient you see.
A caregiver in this position works days from 7:00AM – 3:30PM, including rotating weekends and holidays.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Perform general radiology exams, portable exams and fluoroscopic procedures.
Produce quality images for interpretation with accuracy and without delay.
Acquire, archive, transmit and print images via PACS.
Ensure patient comfort and safety during and after the exam.
Educate patients regarding procedures, equipment and exams to ensure understanding and cooperation.
Maintain documentation.
Address equipment malfunctions, notify management and report malfunctions to the help desk and PACS administrator.
Assist with scheduling procedures, monitor and determine priority of patients and process billing.
