KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools  is part of the KIPP national network. In the 2024-25 school year, the KIPP Jacksonville region will be comprised of four schools educating more than 3,000 students, kindergarten through twelfth grade in the North and West sides of Jacksonville, Florida.

• KIPP Impact Academy: Kindergarten - 4th grade, 6th - 8th grade 

• KIPP VOICE Academy: Kindergarten - 8th grade 

• KIPP Bessie Coleman Academy: Kindergarten - 8th grade 

• KIPP Bold City High School: 9th - 12th grade

For the current school year, teachers at KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools work the following hours Monday through Friday and may have occasional meetings or special school events outside of these hours. Hours for teachers and students may vary slightly by school.

• K-8 Staff: 7:30am - 4:30pm K-8 Students: 8:00am - 3:30pm, Wednesday K-8 dismissal is at 1:30pm 

• High School Staff: 6:45am - 3:45pm, High School Students: 7:15am - 2:30pm, Wednesday High School dismissal is at 12:30pm. 

Every Wednesday is a student early release day, which allows teachers to participate in weekly professional development and content team meetings. *This doesn’t include Wellness Wednesdays when all staff leave at student dismissal.

Job Description

The Dirctor of Leadership Development (DLD) will establish KIPP Jax as a premiere destination for aspiring teachers and leaders in Jacksonville. The DLD will work with KIPP Jax School Leaders, regional leaders, and external partners to enhance, codify, manage, and expand four KIPP Jax signature programs (our PIR program, our Emerging Leaders Program,  our Baker Teaching Fellowship, and our Aspiring Teachers Program) to build a robust internal pipeline of talented lead teachers and a bench for school leadership at KIPP Jax. The DLD owns the design, management, and execution of each program. The DLD will work alongside the HR & Talent Teams and report directly to the Chief Schools Officer.

About the Aspiring Teachers Program

The Aspiring Teachers Program is a one to three-year program that provides aspiring educators with comprehensive support, guidance, and professional development opportunities. Tailored for individuals entering the teaching profession, applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree and aspire to become Lead Teachers. Participants in this initiative are referred to as Senior Guest Educators (SGEs). Each SGE will receive a personalized certification plan, overseen by regional staff members, and will actively pursue certification aligned with their chosen plan. Regular coaching and feedback mechanisms are in place to ensure SGEs remain on track with their performance. Additionally, certification assistance will be readily available to support them throughout their journey.

About the Baker Teaching Fellowship

The Baker Teaching Fellowship is a one-year program that provides beginning teachers with a supportive, gradual on-ramp to Lead  teaching. Fellows (BTFs)  are paired with an effective mentor teacher and slowly assume increased teaching responsibilities within the mentor teacher’s classroom throughout the year.
