Manager, Government Affairs

As part of IHG’s Government Affairs Team for the Americas Region, the Manager of Government Affairs plays an integral role in advocating for IHG and its franchise owners across a broad scope of public policy priorities at the U.S. state and local levels of government.
Your day to day
- Play a key role in both the development and execution of government affairs advocacy objectives and public policy priorities for IHG at the U.S. state and local levels of government.
- Manage a broad policy portfolio to advocate for or mitigate policy issues across multi states.
- Interact with external stakeholders, including policymakers and trade associations to achieve the company’s government relations and public polict objectives.
- Identify and track emerging policy trends within policy portfolio. Work with cross functional partners to determine impact to IHG and to develop and execute mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with national and state trade associations to ensure alignment on policy priorities and strategies.
- Partner with Global Corporate Affairs colleagues and the IHG Owners Association to activate owner advocacy campaigns and provide policy updates to owners and key internal partners.
- Brief senior executives on priority policy issues and prepare company leaders for stakeholder engagement.
- Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment between core business priorities and public policy goals.
- Support IHG’s strategic external and owner engagement efforts in key markets.
- Reports to the Director, Government Affairs – State & Local within IHG’s Global Corporate Affairs function.
What we need from you
- Knowledge of state and local legislative processes and government relations strategies.
- Multi-state government affairs experience preferred.
- Strong writing and analytical skills, as well as effective communication and relationship-building skills.
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills – ability to work closely with people at all levels of the organization.
- Able to work independently with limited required direction and guidance.
- Efficient, organized work style and an ability to prioritize quickly and confidently.
- 5+ years progressive work-related experience and a Bachelor’s degree; political science or public policy preferred.
Travel - 10-25% required as needed
Location - Our hybrid work structure is an expectation of three (3) days a week in the ATLANTA office. This expectation may be adjusted to evolve with the changing needs of the business.
The salary for this role is $58,844 to $115,000. This role is also eligible for bonus pay. We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, 401K and other benefits to employees.
