Overview of Position
Assurant has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Tax Accountant in our New York location!
The Senior Tax Accountant prepares annual and interim federal tax provisions and income tax returns, including estimated tax and extension calculations. May also prepare state income and franchise tax returns for selected entities. May assist with other tax projects, as needed.
What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?
Prepare quarterly GAAP federal tax provisions for assigned companies.
Prepare annual GAAP federal tax provisions for assigned companies. Assist with GAAP footnotes, when applicable.
Assist with analyzing consolidated GAAP provisions and effective tax rates.
Prepare annual federal income tax returns and quarterly estimates for assigned companies.
Assist Tax Manager with consolidating total federal tax return.
Prepare annual state income and franchise tax returns, quarterly estimates, and extension calculations for assigned companies.
Assist in the preparation and maintenance of tax models and other tools to help the enterprise evaluate a variety of tax scenarios.
Assist in completion of other tax-related projects, as needed.
Effectively use software applications employed in the tax provision and return processes (Microsoft Excel and Word, SharePoint, OneSource Tax Provision, OneSource Income Tax, and other internally-developed programs).
What are the requirements needed for this position?
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
A minimum of 2 years tax experience
Other Requirements
Solid tax and accounting skills.
Ability to dependably meet tax-related deadlines, produce quality work, and deal with shifting priorities.
Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills.
Ability to interact with diverse individuals to obtain information for tax returns and provisions.
Candidate should possess or be working toward a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.
Ability to utilize technology to enhance efficiencies.
Must have an understanding of tax modeling and excel-based models.
Good analytical and research skills.
Good organizational skills.
Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment.
Strong achievement- and results-oriented focus to complete tasks and meet deadlines.
What other skills/experience would be helpful to have?
Experience with a CPA firm
Insurance tax experience a plus
Advanced degree in taxation a plus
Pay Range:
$71,300.00 - $119,100.00Any posted pay range considers a wide range of compensation factors, including candidate background, experience and work location, while also allowing for salary growth within the position.
