What will you be doing?

As High School Principal, you will be a driving force behind academic excellence and a thriving school culture. You’ll lead with vision, coach with purpose, and execute with precision.

Instructional Leadership & Teaching Support

  • Serve as an instructional expert, modeling best practices and maintaining a classroom connection
  • Conduct frequent classroom observations and provide real-time coaching
  • Ensure effective implementation of curriculum, assessments, and data-driven instruction
  • Analyze data to drive instructional decisions and targeted PD
  • Lead weekly PD aligned to school goals and scholar outcomes
  • Promote interdisciplinary literacy and critical thinking across all content areas

School Culture & Scholar Success

  • Set and uphold high expectations for scholar behavior and achievement
  • Foster a positive, inclusive school culture rooted in joy and rigor
  • Ensure a safe and structured learning environment
  • Build strong relationships with scholars and families
  • Lead restorative practices to reduce discipline issues and maximize learning

Teacher & Staff Development

  • Recruit and retain a diverse, mission-aligned team
  • Provide individualized coaching and career growth pathways
  • Conduct evaluations and lead data-driven instructional improvement cycles
  • Build a collaborative, high-performance staff culture

Family & Community Engagement

  • Communicate regularly with families regarding scholar progress
  • Host family engagement events and workshops
  • Partner with local organizations to provide enrichment opportunities

Operational & Strategic Leadership

  • Set a clear vision aligned to the Academy’s goals
  • Oversee daily operations, compliance, budgeting, and scheduling
  • Lead recruitment and retention strategies for scholars
  • Ensure implementation of 504 plans, IEPs, and related services

Key Performance Indicators

  • 30% increase in ELA, Math, and Science NJSLA scores
  • 95% average scholar attendance
  • 90% teacher retention annually
  • At least 80% of behaviors managed at Tier 1 level
  • Suspension rate below 5%, supported by restorative practices

What do we require from you?

Required:

  • Principal CE or eligibility within 60 days of employment
  • 5+ years of exceptional teaching with measurable scholar success in urban settings
  • 2+ years leading adults with demonstrated coaching and development success
  • Deep expertise in curriculum, assessments, and data-driven instruction
  • Strong relational and organizational skills
  • Commitment to equity and academic excellence for all students

Preferred:

  • Experience in high-accountability, fast-paced schools

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to walk, stand, and navigate school campus daily
  • Occasionally lift materials (up to 25 lbs)
