The mission of the Innovation Lab is to increase the diagnostic yield of our exome and genome products and reduce the time to diagnosis for patients with undiagnosed hereditary disease. Summary: 

The Head of Biostatistics and Data Science will lead data-driven strategies for early research and development. They will work to integrate advanced data analytics, machine learning and biostatistics to drive research & development of innovative genetic testing products, generate novel health insights for patients and providers, and measure variability in all parts of our test production.  

Job Responsibilities: 

• Strategic Leadership:  

• • Provide direction and vision for biostatistics, clinical data analytics and data science functions in alignment with company goals. 

• • Guide the selection of appropriate statistical methodologies for the problems to be solved 

• • Ensure best practices are employed and meet all regulatory requirements 

• Data Analysis and Interpretation:  

• • Oversee development of data standards and collection strategies, ensuring the availability of high quality and accurate databases for research, development and production laboratory use. 

• • Aggregate clinical and genomic data from public and private databases 

• • Measure variability in all parts of our production testing laboratory 

• • Generate operational, efficiency and quality insights from genetic testing and clinical data. 

• • Ensure that all statistical methodologies and approaches comply with regulatory standards, such as those set by the FDA, CAP/CLIA and state regulatory bodies. 

• Research and Innovation: 

• • Develop new statistical methods and approaches to increase our understanding of genetic disease. 

• • Create new product offerings that make use of clinical and genomic data. 

• Team Leadership:  

• • Grow and lead a team of biostatisticians and data analysts to meet company goals for research, development, and commercial growth. 

• • Provide mentorship and guidance for the team, ensuring their work meets high standards of quality and scientific rigor. 

 

Education, Experience, and Skills: 

• Ph.D. in biostatistics, statistics, or related field required
• 10+ years of experience as a Biostatistician in the biotech, healthcare, and/or pharma industry.
• Strong knowledge of DNA sequencing technologies, bioinformatic methodologies and/or clinical genetic concepts preferred
• Experience managing, developing and motivating scientific professionals in a collaborative, fast paced team environment
