Job Description

AECOM is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our EHS West Environment team as a Water Quality Regulatory Compliance Researcher.  As a Researcher, you will play a critical role in analyzing and interpreting stormwater and wastewater regulations to ensure compliance with environmental guidelines, including but not limited to the Clean Water Act, National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System Program, Oil Pollution Act, Pollution Prevention Act, International Plumbing Code, and Uniform Plumbing Code. Your primary responsibility will be to conduct in-depth research on water quality regulations, policies, and standards at the local, state, and federal levels.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Conduct comprehensive research on water quality regulations, policies, and standards to identify applicable guidelines and requirements.
  • Stay updated with the latest developments in water quality regulations and monitor changes in environmental legislation that may impact our client.
  • Analyze and interpret complex regulatory documents to assess their implications for our projects and compliance efforts.
  • Collaborate with team members to provide guidance and support in implementing water quality regulations effectively.
  • Assist in the development of recommendations to ensure compliance with water quality regulations based on observations from field staff. (I removed implementation since the WQMPs aren’t really tracking to whether the installations do what we suggest)
  • Support the preparation and submission of permit applications, compliance reports, and other regulatory documents as required. (Assist with responding to client compliance questions/requests?)
  • Provide training and guidance to internal team members on water quality regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Review water quality management plans for conformance with standards and regulatory requirements and verify technical solutions and/or basis and validity of conclusion/recommendation.
