The Sr Electrical Engineer is responsible for diagnosing and resolving electrical technical issues for Cepheid’s Instrument platform. Issues may arise from both internal and external customers, including, but not limited to, Product Lifecycle Management, Supply Continuity, and Design for Manufacturability. The role focuses on medium and high-complexity issues requiring a quick turnaround time and providing key feedback to stakeholders.
 

This position is part of Manufacturing Engineering and will be located in Sunnyvale, CA, Onsite. At Cepheid, our vision is to be the leading provider of seamlessly connected diagnostic solutions.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

• Hands-on integration of electro-mechanical, electro-optic, and other integrated systems to optimize systems signal-to-noise ratio, and fault tolerance.
• Use analytical/experimental problem-solving skills to understand hardware, software, reagents, and consumables issues and to be able to quickly analyze and resolve system inter-operability problems.
• Participate in cross-functional project teams with scientists, technical support, and other engineers to create new redesigns and resolve determined root-cause issues and collaborate/perform/lead with other team members in the verification, validation, and Change Order submission and implementation of the redesigns.
• Perform and supervise the testing of components and products to ensure compliance with agency standards. Manage 3rd party testing teams to timely project completion and resolution of testing issues.
   

The essential requirements of the job include:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with 5+ years of related work experience OR Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with 3+ years of related work experience
• At least 5 years of relevant work including hands-on experience in designing, testing, and troubleshooting electrical systems.
• Ability to create and execute test protocols and conduct data analysis to gain insight into the quality and reliability of proposed changes.
• Conduct board troubleshooting, and verification of electronics packaged within tight physical constraints.
• Conduct failure investigations related to electrical systems and components with a proven track record in troubleshooting complex electrical issues, driving to root cause, and implementing effective corrective actions.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

• Competent with implementation of ISO 9001, with ISO 13485 preferred.
• Previous work experience in FDA regulated environment.
• Product transfer to a Contract Manufacturer (CM).

The salary range for this role is $110,000 to $155,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.
