What You’ll Do

Samsung SOC R&D Lab in San Diego is looking for Cellular Senior Engineer – 5G/4G Carrier Lab Test Certification to join the team of passionate engineers with start-up spirit to debug and test Samsung’s world-class cellular modem solutions.

You will be expected to bring strong debugging & log analysis skills to the cellular group for 5G FR1/FR2 (NSA, SA) and legacy LTE, LTE-A testing for Lab/Carrier Certification.

Location: Hybrid, working onsite at our San Diego, CA office 3 days a week, with the flexibility to work remotely the remainder of your time.

• Support carrier certification for AT&T/ DISH/TMO/VzW.
• Participate in back office log triage and analysis for 5G and LTE devices.
• Participate in new 5G feature validation in lab environment with Network Emulators (KeySight/Anritsu/R&S), RF chambers and other test equipment.
• Verification/validation of new 5G FR1/FR2, 4G tests in close collaboration with test equipment vendors for network operator requirements.
• Apply wireless protocol knowledge to debug and test Samsung 5G/4G/3G/2G modem product lines.
• Support lab, field and certification activities including log analysis, test execution, regression testing, bug tracking, and automation.
• Travel for work to support Lab/Field/IOT test and log analysis.

What You Bring

• Bachelors with 5+ years of relevant industry experience, or Masters with 3+ years or PhD with 0 years in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field preferred.
• Hands on experience in mobile device testing with KeySight/Anritsu/R&S test equipment for at least 1-3 years for protocol, data performance or RF: with preference for expertise in US carrier certification (ATT, TMO, VzW) or GCF/PTCRB.
• Hands on experience with UE and NW log analysis, log post processing with mobile device logging tools eg QXDM, STT etc.
• Hands on experience with test equipment and UE automation: with preference for knowledge of python.
• Good understanding of the 3GPP RAN#4/5 test specifications - especially for 5G FR1 & FR2 (NSA and SA), LTE, LTE-A as well as US carrier and network vendor test requirements.
• Hands on experience with defect tracking tools e.g. JIRA.
• Ability to work in a team environment with multiple teams and challenging schedules.
• Ability to take ownership and bring innovations in test methodology and automation.
• Knowledge of 3GPP protocol stack especially for 5G FR1 & FR2 (NSA and SA), LTE, LTE-A.
• Strong verbal and writing communication skills to work with test equipment vendors and chipset customers.
• Should be self-starter and keen to learn technologies which may be required on the job.

Within the base pay range, individual rates depend on a number of factors—including the role’s function and location as well as the individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, education and training. This is part of our comprehensive compensation package with annual bonus eligibility and generous benefits to help you live life well.

 

Base Pay Range$82,096—$188,800 USD
