Medical Laboratory Technician

Responsibilities:

1. Performs a variety of routine to complex tests.
2. Prepares specimens and paperwork prior to actual testing.
3. Exhibits a good working knowledge of the LIS and its capabilities.
4. Operates routine and complex, manual and/or automated equipment in order to perform assigned duties.
5. Records, approves and releases test results to be placed in the patient’s record.
6. Maintain documentation quality control data and all appropriate records as required by the department, and various regulatory agencies.
7. Performs routine maintenance on laboratory equipment in designated area. This includes cleaning equipment, minor troubleshooting, and reporting any irregularities in operation to the manager.
8. May assist in training and orientation of personnel as assigned.
9. Ability to work independently and under general or little supervision.
10. Performs high complexity testing.
11. Adheres to Universal Precautions rules and regulations and safety and infection control policies and procedures.
12. May assist in performing phlebotomy.
13. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Associates Degree in Medical Lab Technology (MLT) 
2. Qualified to perform high complexity testing.
