About the role

Wood is currently recruiting for a Project Quality Manager with extensive experience in the oil and gas petrochemical industry.

The Project Quality Manager will champion GEMTE Americas Project Execution Quality Group’ efforts and will be responsible to the Manager of Quality-Americas. In this role, he/she will be responsible for all aspects of Quality activities associated with the engineering, procurement, and construction of the Air Products SOG & SOE projects. 

This position will require the individual to function with minimal supervision and be proactive in ensuring quality in all spheres. The position will require close interaction with the company’s Project Management, Engineering, Procurement and Construction execution teams to ensure successful execution of the Company’s Quality Management program.

Authorization to work lawfully in the US without sponsorship from Wood is required.

Technical/Functional Responsibilities:

  • Manage and guide the QA/QC activities during the execution of EP, EPC, and EPCM contracts in a manner that achieves the project quality requirements within the Quality Standards, Cost, and Schedule targets set by the Company
  • Ensure that all actions, works, and services undertaken by EP, EPC, and EPCM Contractor, are in accordance with the respective Contractual Agreement.
  • Ensure compliance with the Company’s objectives, requirements, priorities, policies, procedures, standards, rules, regulations and guidelines provided by the company from time to time.
  • Ensure that cost effective solutions in engineering design are adopted while maintaining quality, constructability, operability and maintainability.
  • Ensure the project is built in conformance to the specified codes, standards, specifications, and jurisdictional requirements.
  • Conduct Quality surveillance audits during the different stages of project execution, i.e, Engineering, Procurement, and Construction phases with timely management reporting.
  • Oversee contractor QA/QC performance through spot and planned surveillance audits.
  • Ensure provision of proper technical coordination and administration services to project management group.
  • Ensuring that QA/QC culture is visible across all projects at all levels.
  • Ensure quality resources are planned and hired for quality execution of projects.
  • Review and approve Suppliers, Contractor and Subcontractor quality programs including Project Specific Quality Plans and Inspection and Test Plans (ITP)
  • Oversee the fabrication, assembly, and construction erection activities and report any non-conformances and follow up on the required corrective and preventative actions.
  • Provide inputs to the collection of Lessons Learned for the project.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 20 years’ experience in the oil/gas industry. Minimum of 15 years of experience in a responsible QA/QC
  • position in related equipment manufacturing and field construction of capital projects.
  • Expertise in Welding, NDT systems and ISO auditing is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience establishing project quality systems meeting the requirements of ISO 9001 for Quality
  • Management Systems.
  • Experience in managing large-scale capital projects by performing regular audits and critical inspections as and when required. 
  • Has clearly demonstrated strong Quality Assurance competence. 
  • Ability to facilitate workshops to lead the project team through development of project quality procedures and programs.
  • Ability to work within a diverse cultural environment both national and international environments
  • Demonstrated interpersonal/teambuilding skills.
  • Work effectively with peers in a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Good command of written and spoken English, Strong oral communication skills, strong computer skills.

  • Position will require domestic travel (>25%) to construction projects, including some international travel as required.
