Job Description Summary

Our development and construction professionals develop projects with a holistic, master-planned approach, contributing to the growth of communities where we live and work. As a Construction Project Manager, you'll be responsible for all pre-construction and construction activities on a large project or several smaller projects, typically managing multiple projects at once. We'll count on you to make sure construction projects meet standards, time frames and budget. You'll supervises all project team members in the execution of their project responsibilities.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manages construction projects from design through final occupancy with minimal management. Directs the work of design professionals, contractors and other entities involved in the project.

  • Assists in the selection and contract negotiations with design professionals and contractors. Negotiates fees and scope of work.

  • Develops, monitors and controls the project timeline and budget. Develops the overall design and construction work plans to complete the projects on schedule. Has bottom-line accountability for monitoring and completing the project within budget.

  • Reviews and approves the development of design documents. Directs the value engineering process to maintain efficient design solutions. Develops building standards to be utilized across multiple projects.

  • Negotiates on behalf of Nationwide Realty Investors (NRI) with designers, contractors, and tenants related to changes in the cost of services, scope of work and other issues through the course of the project.

  • Serves as technical advisor/specialist on proposed projects, reviews and makes recommendations on planning/design issues.

Performs special projects and other duties as assigned.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to Vice President, NRI; leads all aspects of a team of contractors/subcontractors.

Typical Skills and Experience:

Education: Undergraduate degree in engineering, construction management, or architecture. Professional registration, MBA or other formal business education preferred.

License/Certification/Designation: None required.

Experience: Seven or more years of related professional experience in project management, preferably in construction-related fields.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Must have advanced level understanding of project management concepts. Knowledge of construction concepts and terminology. Effective project management skills including organization and planning, ability to optimally multitask, interpersonal savvy, leadership and motivational techniques. Strong problem solving and negotiation skills; able to stay level-headed and maintain composure during challenging circumstances. Ability to work collaboratively with strong relationship building skills. Ability to plan, coordinate and assess the work of others. Excellent written, verbal, communication and presentation skills. Operates optimally in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment; adjusts schedule or work hours to meet changes in priorities. Ability to function independently or be a great teammate, with limited supervision.
