Job Summary:
Responsible for clerical duties associated with Rehabilitation Services, including but not limited to patient registration, scheduling, answering phones, faxing and mailing, filing, scanning, communication with the Primary Charge of Rehabilitation Services, and outstanding customer service. Also responsible for tasks related to supporting ongoing patient care, including maintaining supply inventory, departmental cleaning and infection control, completion of departmental equipment and environment safety checks, assist with patient care at the discretion of the Primary Charge and Rehab Leadership, and other duties as assigned.
Essential Job Duties:
1. Promptly answers phone in a courteous manner and provides assistance to caller, transferring calls to appropriate individual, and/or taking a complete dated message
2. Checks phone messages, and returns calls promptly
3. Greets patients in a courteous manner and informs therapist of patient arrival
4. Maintains a neat and organized front office area and filing system of Rehabilitation Services
5. Completes high quality photocopying as requested by the Primary Charge and rehab staff
6. At initial evaluation, registers patient in hospital CPSI system, creates patient file for therapist, includes appropriate documentation in patient file, scans patient insurance cards and signed consent to treat into patient account, communicates with the Rehabilitation Services Case Coordinator to assist with determination of the number of visits approved for therapy service
7. Creates CPSI accounts for all pre-operative education patients referred to Rehabilitation Services
8. Creates new monthly CPSI accounts for all existing patients who are continuing services
9. Schedules Rehab patients for follow-up appointments as requested by the treating provider
10. Obtains new signed monthly orders for all existing patients for continuation of services
11. Discharge patient accounts and files once treatment is complete
12. Fosters communication and demonstrates positive, respectful relationships with Rehab Services staff, other hospital departments, contracted services and all customers
13. Demonstrates outstanding customer service skills
14. Orders, stocks and organizes departmental inventory
15. Completes cleaning tasks in patient and non-patient areas
16. Completes required daily temperature checks and documents appropriately
17. Completes equipment and environmental safety checks and documents appropriately
18. Assists clinical staff in the environmental preparation prior to patient arrival and clean up following patient care
19. Performs duties in a productive manner
20. Demonstrates outstanding customer service skills
21. Performs other work related duties as assigned
Requirements
Licenses, Education & Qualifications:
High School Diploma or G.E.D.
Preferred Experience:
Experience with medical terminology
One year of experience in medical secretarial field
