Provides nutritional assessments for cancer patients and develops appropriate plans of care based on needs. Documents assessments and recommendations appropriately into the Oncology electronic medical record (EMR). Instructs patients and families in nutritional principles, dietary plans, food selection and preparation. Maintains current knowledge in oncology engages in nutritional research and maintains registration status through the Commission of Dietetic Registration.

Sodexo seeks a Part Time Dietitian Nutritionist (20 hours per week) to provide nutrition care at Cape Fear Valley Central Harnett Hospital. This position will primarily involve inpatient responsibilities at Central Harnett Hospital, a 44-bed inpatient nursing bed facility. Service Areas include medical, surgical, and telemetry patients. This position will support another RD to meet the inpatient needs at the neighboring facility – Cape Fear Valley Betsy Johnson Hospital. Betsy Johnson Hospital is an 87-bed inpatient nursing bed facility.  Service Areas include medical/surgical/telemetry, critical care, and pediatrics.

The Dietitian will report to the System Clinical Nutrition Manager and will: 

• Maintain responsibility for comprehensive nutrition assessments/reassessments and counseling of general patients and their families per the Nutrition Care Process model. 
• Actively participate in daily multidisciplinary rounding with care team members.
• Provide education to patients, as well as staff, and work well with physicians, pharmacists, nursing, occupational and speech therapists, and other ancillary staff.
• Be involved in quality improvement and research projects as opportunities arise.
• Serve as a preceptor for dietetic interns, as needed. 
• Provide coverage for other inpatient dietitians on weekends, holidays, and as assigned.

The ideal candidate will:

• Be a Registered Dietitian with 0-3 years of experience.
• Have a willingness to learn with a strong desire to help patients and their families.
• Possess the ability to creatively problem solve, work independently with minimal supervision, and make decisions while working within a self-directed and team-oriented work environment.
• Possess excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to interact with a wide variety of individuals and groups.
• Have strong time management and organizational skills.
• Have North Carolina State licensure.
