About the role

The Administrative Manager oversees the administrative, operational, and financial activities of a department under the direction of Hospital Operations leadership and in collaboration with Nursing and Physician leadership of the department.

  1. Maintains liaison with all levels of departmental and hospital leadership to coordinate operational activities, to accomplish directives, and to facilitate the resolution of problems. 
  2. Assists in the planning of short and long-range financial and operational goals for the unit or department 
  3. Proposes, manages, and implements departmental and hospital-wide projects impacting administration, operations, and finance. Projects will focus in a variety of areas including but not limited to: quality, patient safety, performance improvement, and patient experience.
  4. Proactively addresses environmental concerns in patient care areas through collaboration with ancillary departments.
  5. Manages the preparations for facility projects and renovation projects to minimize the impact on hospital operations and patient experience.
  6. Assists with optimization of supplies on unit as needed.
  7. Collaborates with departmental leadership to monitor various financial metrics for the department. Assists with development of annual departmental budgets and development of expense management initiatives. 
  8. Partners with departmental leadership to identify capital equipment needs. Leads and facilitates purchasing and deployment process for capital equipment. 
  9. Submits financial transactions relating to operations for the department and coordinates approval with Nursing and Hospital leadership. 
  10. Oversees submission of and management of HR transactions within service to ensure unit has an appropriate number of positions available and to prevent downstream issues with payroll 
  11. Prepares and evaluates business plans and proposals to implement new programs and expand existing ones.
  12. Ensures patient care areas within department meet environment of care regulatory standards.
  13. Prepares operational and financial reports and analyses. Proposes appropriate recommendations as needed.
  14. Implements and manages digital engagement tools within the department.
  15. Manages departmental marketing and communication initiatives as needed in collaboration with hospital marketing and communications lead. 
  16. Oversees ancillary programs, services, or teams within the department as required. 
  17. Supervises administrative teams within department as required.
  • Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration or related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and applicable work experience. 
  • 4+ years of related healthcare experience with competency in financial management, program and project management, data analytics, and coordination of one or more major administrative functions.
  • Experience and background in performance improvement preferred.
