Job Description

We are looking for a creative and highly motivated bench scientist to join our Metabolism and Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) team. The ideal candidate has good understanding of metabolic diseases and cell biology and has considerable hands-on experience with development and troubleshooting of in vitro functional assays. The successful candidate will develop and perform in vitro cell-based assays to support ongoing mid- and high-throughput functional projects and will contribute to advancing our Metabolism and CVD capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Work with other scientists in a team effort to support ongoing metabolic and CVD projects
• Culture, differentiate and maintain human primary cells and cell lines
• Assist with the development and testing of human primary cells for low- mid- and high-throughput functional assays
• Work with various assay platforms, including OCR measurements using Seahorse Bioflux analyzer, ELSIA, high content imaging, qPCR, Western Blotting, CRISPR-Cas9, and cell transfection
• Analyze, interpret, and present experimental data to small size groups

Qualifications

• MS in cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics or related field or BS with 3 years of relevant research experience
• Strong experimental design, troubleshooting, and data analysis skills
• Expertise in mammalian cell culture is required
• Proficiency with in vitro cell-based assay development and familiarity with variety of readout technologies such as Seahorse Bioflux analyzer, immune-fluorescence, etc
• Experience with high content imaging and CRISPR-Cas9 is a plus
• Excellent communication and organizational skills, including documentation in an electronic laboratory notebook
