Shriners Children's is the premier pediatric burn, orthopaedic, spinal cord injury, cleft lip and palate, and pediatric subspecialties medical center. We have an opportunity for a full-time Medical Lab Technician / Medical Assistant.
Job Overview
The Medical Lab Technician/Medical Assistant supports the medical team by providing care and comfort to pediatric patients during outpatient clinical appointments, and by providing clinical laboratory services by accurately performing and evaluating diagnostic technical procedures in accordance with the established regulatory and accreditation standards for clinical lab science.
Responsibilities
- Performs diagnostic procedures including waived testing ,chemistry, microbiology, hemostasis, hematology, blood banking, urinalysis and phlebotomy.
- Collect and report data to assist the multidisciplinary team in the evaluation of patient needs
- Assists with the application and removal of casts.
- Performs a variety of comprehensive registration and scheduling functions
- Demonstrate open, accurate and timely communication with patients, families and interdisciplinary team members to ensure effective therapeutic interventions

Qualifications
Required:
Associate's degree in Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Science
Medical Laboratory Technician (ASCP)
Certified Medical Technician in state of CA
Medical Assistant Certification
At least 1 year of clinical laboratory experience and/or Medical Assistant experience
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Bilingual in Spanish
The pay range for this position is $24.23 - $34.20/hour. Compensation is determined based on years of experience and departmental equity.
