Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior is seeking to hire a part-time Research Assistant to support the Center for Social Medicine and Humanities Department. You will support research projected focused on poverty, social inequality, incarceration, substance use, harm reduction, and overdose/infectious disease prevention and treatment month structurally vulnerable populations. Key responsibilities include:
- Manage and organize qualitative research data, interviews, field notes, and research databases
- Support coding, analysis, transcription review, and literature searches
- Maintain archival records, research files, and audiovisual data systems
- Assist with grant reporting, manuscript preparation, editing, and formatting
- Coordinate administrative and project-related activities, including scheduling, communications, and tracking project progress
- Support collaboration across multiple research sites and partner organizations
- Provide general research and administrative support for ongoing projects
Salary range: 30.12/hr - $35.92/hr
Job Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Humanities, Social Science, Behavioral Sciences, Public Health, or related field (preferred)
Minimum 1 year of experience in office management, research administration, health services delivery, or health access research (preferred)
Comfort working with structurally vulnerably and underserved populations
Ability to assist with qualitative data coding, transcription review, dictation, and database management
Understanding of medical and public health literature, as well as social science and humanities theories (preferred)
