WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR
We’re looking for Directors of Vendor Strategy & Business Management who will lead a newly formed team of dynamic, high performing sourcing professionals supporting Nike’s strategic technology initiatives. They’ll be a trusted member of a team responsible for building trusting and meaningful relationships with our technology executives across multiple technology functions. They must be able to drive stakeholder alignment with leadership across Nike functions and geographies. It is important they understand Nike’s business needs and leverage data and market research to determine and enable strategic objectives. Candidate must have the ability to think big, have a history of solving complex problems, have a deep understanding of foundational technology vendors and framework, perform and understand deep market analytics, and be able to research and develop expertise across technology categories while leading an agile team focused on maximize value for NIKE through our engagements with external partners.
This role will serve as a member of the Vendor Strategy and Business Management leadership team reporting into the leader of this function under our Chief Information Officer. As a team leader, you will manage a team internal individual contributors providing coaching and support while also serving as an individual contributor as well. You will guide them in partnerting across Global Technology on the strategies for our critical vendors and objectives while ensuring we monitor, manage, and achieve expected service levels and return on investments, contract negotiations with our most strategic suppliers, and building meaningful relationships across the NIKE matrix. Success is leading the team to be a continued strategic thought partner serving NIKE’s Global Technology organization and their executive team.
WHAT WILL YOU WORK ON
NIKE Directors coach their teams, advise, and support as their teams work with Nike’s business leaders during all phases of the vendor lifecycle. The Director will drive all facets of the team ensuring proper execution of activites are to the highest standard including vendor strategies, spend analysis, ability to run quarterly business reviews, contract management, risk management, competive events and delivery with Procurement, contracting with Legal, performance reporting, and stakeholder engagement.
WHO WILL YOU WORK WITH
As the leader of one of our newly created vendor teams, you will report directly to the leader of Vendor Strategy & Business Management for Global Technology. You will work closely with peers across the team, functions such as Procurement and Legal, stakeholders in Global Technology, and leaders across multiple business lines in support of managing our 3rd party requirements in technology. This role provides the opportunity to interact, present, and influence Nike senior leadership to gain support for key initiatives and strategies.
WHAT YOU BRING
Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, finance, pre-law or related field with 10+ years directly relevant work experience in Vendor Strategy, Vendor Management, Technology Procurement, or Technology Business Operations Management.
MBA, or graduate degree preferred
Experienced people leader with a minimum of 5+ years of people management leading and developing a team of direct reports
Work experience directly with Hardware, Software, Cloud/IaaS, and Security (HW and SW) sourcing including experience negotiating strategic multi-year contracts with Tier 1 Technology suppliers (examples include Microsoft, Salesforce, Adobe, Amazon, and others).
Excellent communication and influencing skills
Actively researches market trends and utilizes best practices to support activities
Strong analytical skills and the ability to derive 2nd level insights from unstructured data
Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret spend and cost data, including understanding of Total Cost of Ownership
Experience and understanding of various negotiation tactics
Background in supporting legal teams in contract development activities, including knowledge of standard contract structures and key terms
Proficiency with Microso
