Position Summary:
The Data Engineer I plays an important role in operationalizing priority data and analytics initiatives by building and supporting data pipelines to provide curated data for key data and analytics features within products.
This position collaborates and communicates effectively within the team, and may with our clients.
This position applies and contributes to data integrity, standards, and best practices, as well as identifies opportunities for increased efficiency and automation at the product feature level.
This position leverages theoretical knowledge of appropriate data and metadata management services such as Azure Synapse, Azure Purview, and PowerBI.

Job Duties:
40% Build Data Pipelines: Build data flows that integrate, transform, and consolidate data from various structured and unstructured data systems into structures that are suitable for building analytics solutions. Build data pipelines and storage/structures based on analysis of data requirements, including data modeling and cleansing. Use and gain knowledge and experience in data processing languages, such as SQL, Python, or Scala, and tool/services, such as Synapse, SQL pools, data lakes, analytical data warehouses, as well as parallel processing and data architecture patterns.
10% Automate Data Processes: Automate the most-common, repeatable and tedious data preparation and integration tasks in order to minimize manual and error-prone processes and improve productivity. Use DevOps for CI/CD.
20% Collaborate on Data Solutions: Create and maintain documentation of analytics solutions for internal and client use. Provide data reporting as needed. Operationalize approved data flows developed by others, including outside of IT.
10% Ensure Data Compliance and Governance: Apply pre-approved appropriate Security and access controls. Apply process and technical standards and best practices.
20% Data Infrastructure and Operations: Monitor and optimize data storage and data processing. Monitor and support daily operational analytics processes. Support data catalog and metadata content (e.g. Purview).
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS or other field involving software and analytical training, or a Bachelor's degree with no specific required field and one year of relevant work experience, OR a combination of 4 years of relevant work experience and validated training. Preparation for a relevant IT certification, validated through certification requirements and documentation of completion, is considered to be related training.
