About the role
Our partner is looking for a Banquet Associate in Bloomington, MN.
This position is accountable for the performance of a variety of routine, physical tasks in maintaining the cleanliness of Mall of America. To assist in the timely and efficient set-up and breakdown for a variety of events. The Banquet Associates' main duties include set-up, cleaning and maintaining banquet functions on a daily basis following the standards of service set by management as well as cleaning event spaces.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Tear-down and set up of event rooms.
- Clean up of the event rooms including, but is not limited to, clearing the dirty dishes and glassware from the tables, straightening the chairs, changing soiled table linen, vacuuming the floor and emptying trash.
- Properly clean and set event rooms per specifications on room layout or as given by group sales, while maintaining quality room presentation.
- On a continuous basis, keep service corridors, pre-function space and storage areas clean, organized and unobstructed.
- Proper care, movement, storage of all equipment such as tables, chairs, sign holders, easels, room supplies, etc.
- Complete a quarterly inventory of equipment (tables/chairs).
- Clean, check, and perform simple maintenance on equipment regularly. Bringing broken equipment to maintenance in a timely manner for repair.
- Ability to understand simple verbal and/or written instructions as well as follow room layouts.
- Ability to work variable and/or rotating shifts including nights, weekends and holidays.
- Oversee daily duties/tasks of Banquet Houseman.
- Regular, reliable and consistent attendance
- Additional duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL JOB REQUIRMENTS:
- Stand/walk, kneel/bend; perform repetitive motion - Frequently, 90% of time
- Lift/Carry up to 80lbs - Occasionally, 30% of time
- Stoop/Squat, Push/Pull; reach at or below/above shoulder level; - 80% of time
- Push carts up to 120lbs - Frequently, 80% of time
- Handle larger items such as tables, carts, staging, etc. - Frequently 70% of time

Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Previous event or banquet set up experience preferred
- Experience reading banquet or event set up diagrams or blueprints preferred.
- Previous housekeeping experience.
- Working knowledge of the safe handling of equipment and materials used in set up and custodial duties.
- Previous experience using cleaning machines such as floor buffers and scrubbers.
- Ability to operate a variety of power equipment.
- Ability to perform some or all the physical tasks involved in lifting, scrubbing, sweeping, mopping and other custodial duties.
