BSI is currently seeking an innovative Regional Director with 15+ years of demonstrated ability to lead and manage a Northwest regional territory which can include consulting, sales, and administrative staff. Has responsibility for sales and delivery of consulting services, for growing the office and the region, and meeting financial, tactical, and strategic objectives. Leads broad-based EHS consulting project teams for clients and participates as a member of project teams.  May also serve as an Account Manager for one or more large clients and may be a technical or business practice leader for a particular service area.

This position establishes strategy, inspires excellence, and drives profitable growth for the Northwest region. Role is responsible for driving market leadership and strategy including developing regional business plan and managing P&L and achieving outstanding results; regional leadership and operations including: employee recruitment, engagement, and development; business development and leading sustainable profitable growth through innovation, outstanding service delivery and exceptional customer satisfaction; technical EHS consulting and client stewardship and project management.

Position requires high level of optimism and a can-do orientation with employees and clients.   This position must lead by example and drive team enthusiasm while also leading an accountable culture. The environment is demanding and requires tenacity, boldness, outside of the box thinking, assertiveness, and a will to win. It requires decisiveness, quick response, and fast action and will often be involved in critical situations demanding good judgment with on-the-spot decisions. You will face frequent change and will need a comfort level with juggling many balls in the air at the same time. While a strong leader, the successful professional in this role must also work collaboratively across the organization and among peers, and successfully navigate in a matrix organization, leveraging resources within the company.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate ability to lead, motivate, develop, and directly and indirectly manage other people effectively.
  • Must be able to generate new ideas and approaches to issues and recognize new opportunities.
  • Must be able to develop new business from existing and/or new customers
  • Juggles many ideas, responsibilities, and projects at once.
  • Ability to delegate authority and responsibility to junior staff to meet client and BSI America Professional Services objectives, and to lead by example.
  • Ability to influence a client to take a particular course of action.
  • Is a technical expert in one or more EHS specialty areas or is an expert EHS generalist. Should have a national or regional reputation outside of BSI America Professional Services.
  • Should be highly visible in the greater Portland and Seattle markets, recognized within and outside of BSI America Professional Services as a technical leader in a particular BSI America Professional Services practice area.
  • Must understand how EHS management systems are developed and implemented and how they fit within a company’s overall business management system. 
  • Requires comprehensive and in-depth knowledge of EHS responsibilities, regulations, procedures, and business practices, including general broad knowledge of EHS best management practices and regulations. 
  • Must be able to generate new ideas and approaches to issues and recognize new opportunities.
  • Must be able to develop new business from existing or new customers.
  • Juggles many ideas, responsibilities, and projects at once.
  • Ability to delegate authority and responsibility to junior staff to meet client and BSI America Professional Services objectives, and to lead by example.
  • Ability to influence a client to take a particular course of action.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve difficult client problems in a proactive, professional, and diplomatic way. 
  • Must have strong technical and proposal (scoping and pricing) writing skills as well as document review and editing skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and effectively multi-task (staff management, project management, execute billable work, manage client relationships, and contribute to sales efforts) to achieve results on schedule, in budget and meeting quality standards.
