Sr Engineer Design (Drafter)

Summary- HII Mission Technologies is seeking a Sr Engineer Design - Drafter to provide engineering support for the Surface Training Advanced Virtual Environment - Combat Systems (STAVE-CS) Part Task Trainers (PTTs) for the U.S. Navy team at Dam Neck. This position requires a Drafter/Designer to review design drawings, identify interface requirements, recommend solutions, design and layout circuits and printed wiring boards, create cable drawings, use AutoCAD, update TDPs, maintain TDPs, and participate in audits and technical meetings at Dam Neck, VA.

Essential Job Responsibilities

Designs major components or major portions of a functional system to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations. Develops basic data and makes preliminary layouts, sketches, and notes necessary to present design proposal. Investigates pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replace ability, strength-weight efficiency, and contractual specification requirements and cost. Coordinates with other organizations affected by design development. Makes layouts of complex assemblies and details parts of devices, mechanisms, and structures. Checks completed layouts and drawings for clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, procedures, specifications, and accuracy of calculations and dimensioning. Identifies design errors, omissions, and other deficiencies, and recommends revisions and/or improvements in design layout to responsible engineers or designers.

- Develop Inventor drawings from models provided by Government staff engineers.

- Manage, track, and maintain reported drawing discrepancies such as PRCs, ECOs, and DCRs, ensuring they are followed through to resolution, and keep the drawing indices updated for all systems.

- Manage project TDPs for contract deliveries, document, monitor, and uphold TDP releases, maintain records of drawings and TDP-related metrics, implement relevant CM practices.

- Participate in meetings, take minutes, and monitor action items related to TDPs and drawings, and oversee the transfer of drawings into and out of the TDP.

- Update the drawing information on the shared network drive using Autodesk Inventor.

- Support planning, designing, acquisition recommendations, implementation, and integration of system hardware components.

-  Performs Review government-developed Technical Data Packages (TDPs) and conduct a gap analysis.

Minimum Qualifications

5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field.

- Possess extensive knowledge in utilizing and comprehending Autodesk Inventor Suite.

- Experience in sheet metal fabrication and design utilizing Inventor.
