This role is bilingual/biliterate in Spanish and English. A test will be administered prior to employment.

This role will serve families in Poway and Ramona.

As a Home Base Teacher, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our Head Start and Early Head Start programs run effectively. You will provide direct services in the home to pregnant women and children from birth to age five. Your role will be to serve as a resource for parents and facilitate learning, helping to create a nurturing and educational environment.

Qualifications:
• Home Base Teacher Interim: CDA Credential, 12 units ECE/CD, 6 months related experience, Associate Teacher Permit or higher.
• Home Base Teacher I: AA/AS degree, 24 units ECE/CD, 6 months related teaching experience, Teacher Permit or higher.
• Home Base Teacher II: BA/BS degree, 12 units ECE/CD, 1 year related teaching experience, 3 units Supervised Field Experience, Teacher Permit or higher.
• Experience working with low-income and high-risk families of diverse cultures is desirable.
• Pediatric first aid and CPR certification required within 30 days of hire.
• Depending on the department assigned, a valid California driver’s license, a current DMV driving record, and proof of insurance may be required to fulfill job-related travel. Reasonable accommodations will be considered in accordance with applicable laws.
As a Home Base Teacher you will:
• Develops individualized programs for pregnant women (EHS only), children from birth to age five, and their families, fostering relationships built on trust and respect.
• Conducts weekly 90-minute home visits with each enrolled family or pregnant woman (EHS only).
• Guides parents in creating age-appropriate early learning experiences, emphasizing their role as the child’s first teacher.
• Provides comprehensive, family-focused services aligned with the Family Partnership Agreement (FPA).
• Supports parents in understanding child development and planning activities that meet the child’s intellectual, physical, emotional, and social needs.
• Assists families in accessing community resources and developing problem-solving skills.
• Organizes bi-monthly socialization experiences for families and pregnant women (EHS only).
• Supports pregnant women (EHS only) in accessing prenatal and postpartum care.
• Coordinates Parent Committee Meetings and collaborates with staff to plan agendas.
• Recruits and enrolls children to maintain a full caseload.
• Maintains accurate documentation and ensures timely completion of all required forms and assessments, including lesson plans, screenings, and transition plans.
• Assists in identifying a Parent Representative for the Policy Council.
• Collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to implement each child’s IEP/IFSP and participates in case conferencing as needed.
