Job Description
AECOM’s Water Business Line is seeking a creative and highly motivated Water Resources Discipline Lead to join our Water group in San Diego, California. Candidates can expect a diverse set of project challenges focused on green stormwater infrastructure projects, municipal water resources projects; and managing analysis and design of water resources infrastructure (dams, reservoirs, levees, canals, tunnels, pipelines, flood protection systems, and conveyance facilities) projects.
Responsibilities Include but are not Limited to:
- Lead strategic planning and development of stormwater management, GI and LID design, BMP implementation, and green infrastructure design standards and guidelines.
- Develop outreach materials and engage with stakeholders to promote project initiatives and compliance.
- Lead technical design teams for analysis of Water resources infrastructure (dams, reservoirs, levees, canals, tunnels, pipelines, flood protection systems, and conveyance facilities) projects.
- Lead the preparation and successful completion of construction package deliverables (design drawings, specifications, cost estimates, alternatives analysis, technical memoranda, and design documentation reports).
- Oversee environmental compliance and permitting processes for municipal projects.
- Provide advice and consultation to clients on engineering matters, including compliance with government laws and regulations.
- Mentoring, leading, and training junior level staff
- Present design solutions to AECOM project teams and clients
- Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic team environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Serve as primary point of contact with the client and develop client relationships.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) in California or ability to obtain within 6 months
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s OR PhD in Civil Engineering or related field of study
- 20+ years or more of relevant experience
- 10+ years of Project Management experience
- Excellent client engagement and consultation capabilities, with experience providing technical leadership and training.
- In-depth knowledge of watershed processes, modeling systems, and regulatory compliance, ensuring adherence to environmental standards.
- Demonstrated ability to develop strategic planning and guidance for green infrastructure and stormwater compliance projects.
- Good understanding of the California market and state agencies, and ability to support marketing efforts in pursuing work
- Experience with the California green infrastructure design programs
- Working experience/relationships with California clients and market.
