Description
The Lemuel Shattuck Hospital (LSH), operated by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH), is seeking a dedicated and experienced Security Team Specialist II to serve on the evening shift. This pivotal role supports hospital safety by overseeing protective services for patients, staff, facilities, and property. As a Security Team Specialist II, you will lead the security personnel, coordinate emergency response efforts, administer first aid when needed, and ensure swift response to potential threats such as theft, vandalism, and other safety concerns.

3:00PM-11:30PM Evening Shift
Days Off are Friday & Saturday
Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):
- Supervise and support shift personnel, ensuring compliance with regulations, professionalism, and proper post assignment.
- Lead Security Specialists in building and grounds patrols, fire prevention, and incident detection.
- Monitor for potential threats including unauthorized individuals, escapees, and conditions that could endanger safety or property.
- Assist with traffic and parking control across hospital grounds and enforce usage policies.
- Locate and safely return lost or missing patients.
- Respond to emergencies (natural disasters, accidents), administer first aid, and coordinate additional aid as needed.
- Operate department vehicles for transporting patients, staff, visitors, and materials.
- Utilize and maintain communications and alert systems including radios, PA systems, and fire alarms.
- Serve as a court witness in incidents involving trespassing, vandalism, or traffic violations on hospital property.
- Assume command during emergencies in the absence of superior officers, coordinating team actions and resources.
- Participate in departmental meetings as directed by the Chief.
Required Qualifications:
- Proficient in English language usage, including grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Able to communicate instructions clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Demonstrates sound judgment, discretion, and rapid decision-making in emergency or high-pressure situations.
- Maintains composure under stress and displays tact when interacting with others.
- Builds rapport and fosters collaborative, respectful workplace relationships.
- Observes and gathers information through interviews, documentation, and direct observation.

- Accurately prepares and maintains reports and records.

- Physically capable of lifting heavy items or individuals and working on foot for extended periods.
