About the role

JOB SUMMARY

The Internal Investigations department is a subgroup of the Global Safety & Security organization. This department’s mission places a strong emphasis on mitigating and investigating fraud in the areas of financial, loyalty and incentive programs. The department performs a wide range of investigations into all allegations of serious misconduct, threats, criminal activity and workplace violence committed by associates, guests, and others, to ensure and safeguard the assets and protect the reputation of Marriott International.

In this entry level manager role, in addition to performing investigations, he/she will provide direct investigative assistance to all Marriott businesses. He/she will manage or directly provide specific services, projects, and information with the intent of reducing losses and successfully defending legal actions regarding the investigation and disciplinary action of associates and/or customers or invitees.

 

EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS

 

Investigative Management:

 

  1. Business Integrity Line Investigations: Conduct and manage investigations into “Compliance with Laws, Rules and Regulations,” “Competition and Fair Dealing,” “Gifts and Entertainment,” “Payments to Government Personnel” and “Accuracy of Company Records.” Provide closure of investigations to a legally defendable conclusion working within legal guidelines and Marriott’s company polices.

 

  1. Loyalty Program, Incentive, and Explore Fraud: Conduct, manage, and lead investigations into violations of Marriott’s Loyalty, Incentive, and Explore

Program to include internal and external violations.

 

  1. Insider Threat Investigations: Conduct, manage, and lead investigations into violations of Marriott’s Information Protection Policy to include internal and external violations.

 

  1. Information/Due Diligence Investigations:  Directly access and manage the process and dissemination of “publicly held” information in federal, state, municipal and private repositories for the purposes of due diligence analysis and pre/post-employment screening. Directly serve as a technical resource to MI on Marriott policy concerning the use of information-based investigations, State and Federal Fair Credit Reporting Acts, and Constitution and Statutory Protections of Workplace Privacy.

 

  1. On-Site Investigations:  Provide direct on-site unit assistance for property specific investigations for both criminal concerns and violations of company policy. Gather and coordinate information. Provide specific technical expertise in the delivery of investigative interviews in compliance of civil law.

 

B.      Intelligence Gathering:  On request, partner with the Security Information Specialist with searches via the internet to include social media, open-source data and subscription databases on controversial groups, protests, and information of groups, companies or persons that are targeting the company.

 

C.     Fraud Investigations:  Assist Sr. Managers of Investigations with requests involving credit card, check counterfeiting and system or computer fraud. Assist in conducting on-going research in this field. Build effective communication networks with local law enforcement agencies as well as federal agencies that manage financial and economic crime. Continuously enhance fraud expertise and knowledge in the field via on-going education. Assist in managing investigations and function as a liaison between property, law enforcement agencies, Finance Group, Human Resources, Internal Audit, Law Department, and related regional managers as identified by MI.

 

D.     Court Appearances: Schedule, organize and/or attend Company prosecution appearances in court on behalf of the company.

 

  1. Properly document all aspects of the investigation and effectively deliver results to stakeholders including but not limited to, Labor Law, Associate Relations, Human Resources and property and regional leadership as appropriate.

 

  1. Assist in fielding and responding to requests for consultation from property leaders and key stakeholders on matters of investigative concern.

 

  1. Any other assignments as requested by management.

 

 

Communication

 

  1. Maintain and provide effective communications during all investigations with Regional Vice Presidents of Human Resources (RVPHR’s), Regional Directors of Human Resources (RDHR’s), Regional Associate Relations Managers, HR Associate Relations Team management, Attorneys from Corporate, Legal and Labor Law Departments, Internal Audit, Business leaders, unit General Managers, and other regional managers as defined by the MI SBU.
