Job Description:
We are seeking an intern to learn and grow within our Adult Day Program by actively engaging with and supporting the clients we serve. The Adult Day Program Intern will gain hands-on experience supporting adults with varying needs in a structured, person-centered day program setting. The intern will assist staff in providing meaningful activities, fostering social interaction, and ensuring a safe, supportive environment for participants. This role is ideal for students pursuing degrees in human services, social work, psychology, gerontology, special education, or a related field.
Essential Responsibilities:
Students will observe daily programming by adult day staff, within the hours of 9 am – 3pm.
Student will observe/participate in at least one development/update and implementation of participant’s person-centered care plan.
Students will assist with procedures and daily activities as directed by the Adult Day Program Director or assigned Adult Day Program designee.
Students will assist with documentation as directed.
Students will attend staff meetings, case conferences, education sessions, and family meetings, as scheduled or indicated by supervisor.
Students will integrate procedures and techniques learned in their college programs while working under the direct supervision of an Adult Day Program Supervisor or designee.
Students will maintain appropriate appearance, attitude and conduct.
Students will maintain participant confidentiality and treat all participants with respect and dignity at all times.
Students will meet weekly with the Program Director or designee to review progress and goals for Internship.
Qualifications
• Enrolled in a College program with a goal of receiving an Associate, Bachelor, or Master degree in a human services related field and have approval from his or her program director
• Proven written communication ability
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• Students must have approval from HR prior to starting internship hours
• Must be able to attend 8-hour agency Dementia training
