Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Assist in managing the overall operations of the Patrol staff with limited supervision and/or absence of the Patrol Director
- Frequent and detailed review of work, training, planning, assigning and directing work; performance appraisals, discipline of employees, addressing complaints, and resolving problems
- Help perform all administrative functions for the Patrol department including onboarding, performance concerns, scheduling, payroll, hiring, training, and other related functions
- Assist with hiring and termination of patrol staff
- Assist Patrol Director with department performance, staffing, hiring, training, culture, engagement, scheduling, interdepartmental relations and guest service
- Helps Patrol Director to supervise and manage all sub-departments within A-Basin Ski Patrol: Medical, Tech Rescue/Lift Evacuation, Snow Safety, Training, and Accident Investigation
- Partner with Leaders at A-Basin to embed diversity equity and inclusion competency and practices across teams to develop and support a respectful and safe workplace
Essential Responsibilities:
- General management and leadership responsibilities in the absence of Patrol Director
- Oversee all aspects of day-to-day operations of mountain, in coordination with department supervisors, snow safety, and leads
- Responsible for teamwork, coordination, and review of all patroller responsibilities and expectations as outlined in patrol job description and various levels of staging
- Assist and prioritize daily tasks of Supervisors, ABSP, and other employees
- Assist Snow Safety Program by monitoring, overseeing, and participating in avalanche mitigation, training, and testing of ski patrol personnel in all aspects of route leading, explosives, and rescue procedures
- Can provide stability assessment and evaluations of avalanche hazard
- Ensure proper explosive procedures per State and Federal regulations pertaining to explosives use, training, storage, inventory, and transportation
- Thorough operational communication with patrollers, other departments, and Senior Leadership Team
- Ensure adherence and processes of Emergency Operations in all situations
- Maintain support of Supervisors for scheduling and time off requests
- Promotes a culture of safety, success, and accountability by evaluating performance daily
- Coordinates special events and works with government and other outside agencies
- Assists ABSP with on-mountain setup and maintenance, trail openings/closings, risk management, and other work-related projects
- Summertime responsibilities include training and competency in tech rescue with Via Ferrata and Aerial Adventure Park, hiking/biking operations, guest services, trail work, signage, wedding coverage, and being involved with capital projects
- Act as Manager on Duty as determined by Patrol Director or Senior Leadership Team
- Other duties as assigned
