Sports Warehouse, Inc. is seeking a skilled HR Generalist to join our growing team. In this role, you'll play a key part in shaping our employee experience. We're looking for someone with excellent communication skills, a proactive attitude, and a knack for problem-solving.

Purpose of Position:

The Human Resources Generalist will support the daily functions of the Human Resources department, including employee relations, training and development, benefits, and leave, and will act as a liaison between management and employees, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures, and fostering a positive and productive work environment. The HR Generalist will also provide support in other various HR functions including recruitment and onboarding.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Employee Relations

  • Act as a liaison between employees and management, addressing employee concerns, resolving conflict and documenting issues appropriately. 

Organizational Development & Training

  • Administer various human resources plans and procedures for all company personnel. 
  • Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of the department. 
  • Support training and development initiatives and assist with facilitation of training programs internally to service various departments and needs.

Performance Management 

  • Assist in the performance appraisal process, including providing guidance to managers with improvement plans as needed. 

Compliance

  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications.

Benefits Administration

  • Assist with employee enrollments in company-sponsored employee benefits programs. 
  • Maintain accurate records of employee participation in benefits programs.
  • Assist in educating employees about the benefits available to them.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations.

Leaves of Absence

  • Navigate employee requests for time off due to personal or medical reasons.
  • Process leave requests.
  • Maintain accurate records of employee absences.
  • Communicate with employees and their managers about leave policies and procedure.

Worker Comp

  • Report and handle Workers Compensation claims with carrier and provide managers with information regarding restrictions and returning to work updates.
  • Monitor and record appropriate leave usage relative to Workers' Compensation benefits.
  • Maintain OSHA records.

HRIS

  • Maintain employee related databases within the HRIS with accuracy and consistency.


General HR Duties

  • Handle employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors/managers, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Assist various managers with matters related to employee disciplinary action.
  • Assist in handling employee complaints.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation. 
  • Answer frequently asked questions and handle concerns from employees relative to standard policies, benefits, etc.; refers more complex questions to appropriate senior-level HR staff or management. 
  • Maintain the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records. 
  • Perform periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately.
