We are currently seeking a Construction Project Engineer to support our SFHP project near Idaho Falls.

About the Role
We are seeking a highly driven and technically proficient Construction Project Engineer to support the planning, execution, and delivery of complex infrastructure projects within high-security and mission-critical environments. The ideal candidate excels in coordinating multidisciplinary construction activities, interpreting engineering design intent, supporting field execution, and ensuring seamless alignment between engineering, construction, safety, and facility operations.

This role is perfect for an engineer who thrives in fast-paced environments, has strong problem‑solving skills, and demonstrates exceptional leadership supporting construction, infrastructure upgrades, underground utilities, mechanical and electrical systems, and technically demanding facility improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide daily engineering support for active construction projects, ensuring strict adherence to design drawings, technical specifications, and federal compliance requirements.
  • Prepare, coordinate, and manage RFIs, FCRs, design clarifications, and construction documentation to resolve field issues and maintain project momentum.
  • Support construction superintendents with layout, dimensional verification, drawings interpretation, and conflict resolution across civil, electrical, mechanical, and underground infrastructure scopes.
  • Develop and monitor project schedules, daily logs, progress reports, and quantity tracking to ensure alignment with cost and schedule targets.
  • Participate in constructability reviews and design development at 30%, 60%, and 90% stages, identifying risks, scope gaps, and improvement opportunities
  • Assist in estimating, material take-offs, and procurement coordination for congressional line-item and facility upgrade projects.
  • Support coordination between engineering, safety, project management, quality assurance, work planning, and field execution teams to ensure integrated project delivery.
  • Maintain compliance with nuclear and non-nuclear facility safety standards while supporting operations within high-security environments.
  • Contribute to subcontractor technical evaluations, proposal preparation, and documentation compilation including drawings, specifications, and contractual requirements.
  • Lead or support field engineering for utilities installation, mining-related activities, confinement operations, electrical and mechanical infrastructure, site preparation, and structural improvements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
  • Idaho PE license or ability to obtain within 1 year.
  • 3–10+ years of experience in construction engineering, field engineering, or construction management.
  • Demonstrated success supporting multidisciplinary construction in highly controlled or high-security facilities (e.g., nuclear, federal, defense programs).
  • Proven experience coordinating underground utilities, electrical distribution, mechanical systems, ventilation, fire alarm/detection systems, and complex infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing, schedule integration, estimating, and workforce coordination.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, and engineering design tools.
  • Experience in document control, RFI/FCR submissions, QA/QC, field inspections, and turnover package preparation.
  • Ability to interpret and validate engineering drawings, resolve field conflicts, and communicate effectively with craft, engineers, management, and project stakeholders.
  • Competency certifications such as hoisting/rigging, trench safety, fall protection, or concrete technology are a plus.

       

Compensation Details:

$130,000 - $180,000
