Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Traffic Engineering Intern to join the AECOM Transportation Team of Greater Pennsylvania in Pittsburgh, PA. Internships are designed to introduce and build essential, hands-on skills that differ from those attained in the academic arena and help to enhance the transition from student to professional. Interns are assigned duties that will provide a broad, well-rounded learning experience within their field of study. As a Traffic Engineering Intern, you will gain experience working as part of a team on medium to large-scale transportation projects in the Greater Pennsylvania Area. You will build analytical and design skills, create designs, perform calculations, write reports, and draft construction plans under the supervision of an experienced engineer.

This position is expected to begin in Spring/Summer 2024.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide support to the traffic engineering groups on highway design and analysis projects.
  • The intern will work under the direction of engineers to support design staff on engineering calculations, quantity calculations, cost estimates, construction plans, and supporting materials.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-based, collaborative environment.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Candidate must be currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
  • Must have 2 years of completed study.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Academic track with a focus in transportation engineering highly desirable.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite.
  • Basic knowledge of industry-standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as MicroStation, InRoads, Synchro, and OpenRoads).
  • Good communication, organizational, technical writing and analytical skills.
