Your Responsibilities
As a Software Design Engineer for Intelligent Solutions Group Fargo located in Fargo, North Dakota you will...
- Implement software using proven programming techniques. Gather and format requirements directly from customers, create and review innovative software designs, and perform analysis and make recommendations and design decisions.
- Perform detailed unit, integration, and systems verification and validation using software tools including emulators, debuggers, hardware in the loop and simulations.
- Review documentation produced during the Product Development Lifecycle that is generated by other engineering groups and verify documentation is sufficient for product design. Generate support documentation as needed.
- Collaborate with other project team members to ensure the final product has compatible hardware and software that performs as specified in the product specifications.

What Skills You Need
- Understanding of embedded software development
- Understanding of C and other programming languages
- Understanding of microcontroller operation and memory organization
- Understanding of compilers, linkers and locators
- Understanding of development and debugging tools (source level debuggers, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multi-meters, etc.)
- Understand of microcontroller peripherals and systems (PWM outputs, boot loaders, A/D converters, watchdog timers, interrupt and trap functions, serial and parallel interfaces, etc.)
- Good written and verbal communication skills (English)

- Simulation and modeling tools (e.g MATLAB, Simulink)
- Communication networks (e.g. CAN, Ethernet, LIN)
- Communication protocols (e.g. J1939, ISO11783, UDS, TCP/IP)
- Other programming languages (Python, C#, etc.)
Education
Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent degree
