Academic Pediatric Psychologist

The Department of Pediatrics at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) seeks a faculty member in its Division of Developmental Medicine. The Division is currently comprised of 30 faculty members and supports an ACGME-approved fellowship training program in Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics and a robust research program.  Responsibilities of this position include providing direct patient care in inpatient and ambulatory settings, medical education of students and trainees, and participation in clinical research and/or quality improvement.

This position will primarily focus on clinical service, but provides collateral opportunities for teaching, program development, and/or research. Primary responsibilities include psychological assessment of school-aged patients in an outpatient setting with a focus in autism. Psychologists will perform independent evaluations and contribute to team-based integrated assessments. The role may include clinical teaching of post-doctoral psychology fellows, developmental-behavioral medical fellows, residents, and other members of the interdisciplinary team. Opportunities to focus academic effort and growth are available in research, quality improvement, and education. Partnerships with outpatient pediatric providers, as well as faculty in TRIAD (Treatment and Research Institute for Autism Spectrum Disorder) and the Vanderbilt Kennedy Center are available, as is mentorship in each of these areas. All applicants must hold a Ph.D. or Psy.D. from an APA-accredited doctoral program and preferably have completed an APA-accredited internship. Graduate, research, and internship training experience in autism and/or other developmental differences is preferred. Bi-lingual competency in Spanish is also valued. Academic appointment and compensation will be consistent with experience and hospital policies.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates should have a medical doctorate or equivalent, hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Tennessee, be board certified or board eligible in Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics, and have a strong record of excellence in clinical care, graduate medical education, and scholarship. Academic rank, track, and compensation will be dependent upon qualifications.  VUMC offers a generous benefits package to its faculty.
