Position Title: Creative & Digital Media Strategist.
Department: Athletics.
Classification: Exempt.
FTE: 1.0.
Work Schedule: The standard 40-hour work schedule is Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., with regular evening and weekend hours for event coverage; flexible work arrangements will be discussed and approved by the supervisor. Travel for event coverage expected, especially postseason events, which includes local (Twin Cities metro area) and national travel; overnight trips average 5-6 trips per year.
Salary: $45,000.
Position Overview:
The St. Olaf Athletic Department is in search of a talented and dedicated creative and digital media strategist to work in Athletic Communications. This full-time position will work with the Assistant Athletic Director for Strategic Communications to promote the stories and accomplishments of St. Olaf’s 24 NCAA Division III varsity sport programs, primarily through photography, videography, graphic design, and social media. The position requires night and weekend hours, in addition to in-office hours during the week, and will supervise student workers.
Essential Job Duties:
- Serve as the department’s primary photographer.
- Manage all photography needs of the department for use on social media and the athletics website.
- Hire, train, and supervise student photographers to assist with the needs of the department.
- Serve as the department’s primary videographer.
- Produce, shoot, and edit video content across a variety of platforms, including highlights, features, and other forms.
- Hire, train, and supervise student videographers to assist with the needs of the department.
- Serve as the department’s primary graphic designer.
- Design materials such as pre/post-game graphics, awards graphics, recruiting graphics while following department brand guidelines.
- Create designs for athletic apparel as needed.
- Lead the department’s social media efforts and partner with the Marketing and Communications office as needed.
- Manage athletics social media accounts and assist with managing team accounts as needed.
- Shape the creative and digital strategies of the department through the creation of a content calendar.
- Track social media analytics and tailor strategy accordingly.
- Support, respect, and commit to embracing diverse backgrounds, values, and points of view to build a strong and inclusive community.
- Complete and meet deadlines for required training and performance management cycle.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervision Received and Exercised:
- Reports to the Assistant Athletic Director for Strategic Communications.
- This position does not supervise staff or students.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience, maintain a valid driver’s license and meet St. Olaf College driver authorization criteria with a satisfactory driving record.
- Experience: Experience in college athletics as a student-athlete, student-coach, student employee in Athletics and/or Athletic Communications; and/or experience in content creation (photography/videography/graphic design/social media) in a relevant field.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience: Experience using Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere Pro, Lightroom, etc.) and SIDEARM web platform. Experience with social media analytics tools.
