Job Title: Flight Test Engineer Lead

Location: Vandenberg Space Force Base, CA - Lompoc, CA (On-Site)

Canvas, Inc. is seeking a Flight Test Lead Engineer! Senior Level position located at Vandenberg Space Force Base (VSFB), as part of the ICBM Combined Test Force (CTF), under the 804th Test Group affiliated with Arnold Engineering Complex and will provide oversight of Sentinel ICBM (formally GBSD) flight test activities as well as site lead administration over 719th CTF personnel.

Duties:

  • Advocate and lead the developmental test & evaluation planning and oversight at VSFB for flight testing to assess performance against stated program requirements.
  • Assist mission thread leads in managing and coordinating testing roles and responsibilities within test planning teams (TPTs).
  • Coordinate/facilitate integration and communication between Sentinel CTF, SPO, and Prime Contractor.
  • Provide administrative role for new personnel on-boarding, new personnel training, assisting the section lead and mission lead with tasking assignments, employee work load management, out-processing etc.
  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary government and contractor team to plan, test, analyze, and report through multiple program acquisition phases.
  • Work as the primary CTF POC in planning, collecting, analyzing, and transfer of test data and work closely with VSFB personnel to ensure resources are allocated for successful tests.
  • In coordination with the program office and prime contractor develop, review, and execute test plans for all areas relating to VSFB flight testing.
  • Decompose test requirements into test objectives, evaluation criteria, and required resources for system level tests and demonstrations.
  • Support use of Model-Based System Engineering (MBSE) applications and agile techniques in T&E of the weapon system.
  • Support the development of test requirements and detailed integration test plans, test procedures, technical and safety review boards (TRB/SRBs), test readiness reviews (TRRs), and test assessment reports
  • Coordinate with VSFB range safety personnel to integrate CTF and SPO test personnel into flight test planning and execution decisions.
  • Oversee qualification and acceptance testing activities occurring at VSFB for cables, destruct systems, and onboard telemetry systems.
  • Support integration and advancement of government assessment tools through advocacy for technical approaches and development of specific tools to enable assessment.
  • Author independent assessments of contractor test results
  • Assess test support and systems integration progress and trends of testing, identify problems and areas of concern for assigned systems.
  • Maintain cognizance of all assigned Combined Test Force (CTF)/Test Team engineering activities.
  • Participate in Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) and Integrated Test Teams (ITTs) as appropriate.
  • Provide technical support and advocate integrated approaches of engineering efforts and support of test activities for which existing guidelines may not be available or applicable.
  • Manage unit access to safes, IT equipment lists, account/platform access and COMSEC responsibilities.
  • Maintain Program Integration Office (PIO) and AFOTEC integration teams/liaison
  • Serve as a test team participant in the development of overall plans such as the Test and Evaluation Master Plan (TEMP), System Test Plan (STP), Developmental Test (DT) Report, recommendation for IOT&E readiness, and other technical documents.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience; 6+ years of relevant experience desired.
  • Familiarity with ICBM weapon systems and related subsystems/equipment, their projected use in the military, and methods of testing. • Familiarity with test & evaluation planning and processes consistent with DoD acquisition directives and policies.
