Job Requirements

 

As an EH&S associate, this role is responsible for the support and delivery of all Environmental, Health, and Safety programs to ensure the protection of employees from industrial, occupational, and environmental health hazards. With guidance from the EHS division, the EH&S associate will ensure federal, state, and local legislative compliance and will be responsible for safe, efficient, accurate, and on-time completion and submission of all regulatory and procedural inspections, audits, and permit requirements.

Job Requirement

 

• Support the development and implementation of EHS Policies and Procedures.
• Provide timely training for current and new employees as required by internal policies and regulatory requirements.
• Support new employee orientation from the EH&S perspective.
• Work with other disciplines in cross-functional groups/teams to assure processes are designed and implemented with EH&S requirements and controls as a priority.
• Direct waste disposal, handling and spill response as required to ensure manufacturing operations and employees’ health and safety are not impacted.
• Conduct periodic, scheduled safety meetings and training sessions.
• Develop and deploy regular, open communications with the hourly and salaried workforce regarding safety-focused current, timely issues, matters and process requirements.
• Support the EH&S Management System (EHSMS).
• Develop for approval and update internal safety policies and environmental practices and policies as directed or recognized.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to identify waste reduction opportunities and new safety initiatives to create a culture where safety is a priority.

Education & Experience

Education

 

• BA/BS with 0-2+ years of experience or AA/AS with 1-3+ years of experience.
• EH&S-related training and certifications are a plus. Degree in Environmental Sciences or Industrial Hygiene preferred.

Experience

 

• With adequate guidance, pursue and provide protection of the employees from all accidents, injuries and illnesses, and concurrent protection of the company, by assuring full compliance with local, state and federal requirements.
• Exposure to budget and cost controls.
• Understanding of waste handling, manifesting and spill response procedures and rationale.
• Assigned to smaller projects or discreet tasks with the fundamental discipline of EH&S.
• Comfortable working on cross-functional teams, with support of the EH&S focus.
• Still learning the fundamentals of the EH&S discipline.
• Effective organizational and communications skills.
• Some operative experience working on teams, projects and programs.
• Some understanding and flow-down of OSHA, NFPA and ANSI general industry standards.
